For over 50 years the island of Mallorca has thrown itself wholeheartedly into tourism; it has become a mature destination, enabling visitors to find the experience they are seeking and enjoy an island that is both delightful and highly varied. On this latter score we bring you good news! This year, Palma Town Hall has come up with two proposals that strike us as highly welcome.<\/p>\n

First, it has launched something called Palma Pass, a smart card that includes tickets and discounts to the city\u2019s main tourist attractions<\/a>. Must-see places such as the cathedral, the Castillo de Bellver and Palma\u2019s leading museums are all included in the list of visits that come as part and parcel of the Palma Pass.<\/p>\n

The card also allows you to use Palma\u2019s urban bus network (known by the initials EMT) during the period the card is active, and includes a return trip by bus to the airport or port (for which you\u2019ll need to take line 1).<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, your Palma Pass comes with a handy guide to the city. This enables you to get the low-down on Palma\u2019s secrets whenever and wherever you happen to be and negotiate the city just like a local. The guide explains all the services that come with the card, as well as a list of the places, such as bars and restaurants, where you\u2019ll get discounts.<\/p>\n

Two types of card are currently available, depending on how much time you have to play with, one lasting 48 hours for \u20ac34 and another lasting 72 hours for \u20ac41. Check out all the information about Palma Pass here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Secondly we have excellent news for all Mir\u00f3-lovers. The great surrealist painter has always been closely linked to Mallorca, and to this day you can find many examples of his work dotted throughout the island.<\/p>\n

The council has therefore decided to introduce a pass that for \u20ac30 allows you to visit Mallorca\u2019s Mir\u00f3 museums. It includes not just the Mir\u00f3 museums in Palma (Es Baluard and the Fundaci\u00f3n Pilar y Joan Mir\u00f3), but also the Museo Modernista Can Prunera<\/a>, located in the picturesque village of S\u00f3ller. To enable to you reach Can Prunera, the pass also includes public transport by train and tram between Palma, S\u00f3ller and Puerto de S\u00f3ller.<\/p>\n

If you want a means of exploring Mallorca that is both easy and economical, you couldn\u2019t have chosen a better time!<\/p>\n
