At the traditional festivals you\u2019ll find everything to do with ancestral farming and animal husbandry practices, and of course you\u2019ll find lots and lots of food. Here we offer you our pick of this month\u2019s Mallorcan festivals so you can make sure you don\u2019t miss a single one:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pumpkin Fair (Muro):<\/strong> Don\u2019t miss the <strong>pumpkin-growing contest<\/strong> that gives the fair its name: you\u2019ll see pumpkins of uncommon sizes and unimaginable shapes. Sample the best Mallorcan cuisine at its gastronomy and wine show.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dijous Bo (Inca): One of the biggest and best-known events in Mallorca<\/strong> that attracts Mallorcans from all over the island, even though it\u2019s on a Thursday! Exhibitions, concerts, correfocs and atmosphere galore. And who says there are no fiestas other than in summertime? On the Wednesday night come to the town\u2019s grand evening-before celebration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olive Fair (Caimari):<\/strong> The small village of Caimari (Selva) is famous for its olive trees and oils. A fiesta celebrating traditional produce, particularly olives. One of the few villages where you\u2019ll be able to watch an&#8230; olive-stone throwing contest! This year Florencio Sanchindr\u00e1n, the world\u2019s best Serrano ham-cutter, will be joining the festival. Haven\u2019t you tried this delicacy yet? Treat yourself!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Honey Fair (Llub\u00ed): The sweetest of fairs<\/strong>, all about the world of honey and beekeeping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esclata-sang and Mountain Fair (Mancor de la Vall):<\/strong> A fair whose aim is to teach and preserve traditional mountain activities. The name comes from a favourite food of Mallorcans, the <em>esclata-sang<\/em> (Latin name <em>lactarius<\/em>), a type of edible mushroom picked in pine woods in the mountains. If you want to try them, you won\u2019t have to go in search of them: at the fair you\u2019ll be able to take part in a succulent mushroom-tasting.<\/p>\n<p>As we said, these are just some of Mallorca\u2019s festivals.
